Recommendations for travelers

If you plan to travel to Honduras, here are some recommendations to make your experience safe, enjoyable and enriching.

Honduras is a beautiful country, but as in any destination, it is important to take precautions:

  • Avoid walking alone at night, especially in Tegucigalpa City and San Pedro Sula.
  • Use reliable transportation (official cabs, Uber or tourist transportation).
  • Keep your belongings safe, especially in markets and bus stations.
  • Find out about safe zones and avoid areas with high crime rates.
  • Try to handle little cash, preferably in the country's currency.
  • When leaving the country, carry your documents in order
  • Avoid exceeding the migratory time.

Climate and best time to travel

Dry season: From November to April, ideal to travel the country without rain.

Rainy season: May to October, with higher risk of hurricanes on the Caribbean coast.

For diving in the Bay Islands, the best time is between March and August, when the water is clearer.
