If you are planning to travel to El Salvador, here are some recommendations to make your experience safe, enjoyable and enriching.
El Salvador is a beautiful country and has improved a lot in security, but it is advisable to take precautions:
- Avoid walking alone at night, in areas with little traffic
- Find out about the political situation before traveling, avoid demonstrations.
- Use reliable transportation (official cabs, Uber or tourist transportation).
- Keep your belongings safe, especially in markets and bus stations.
- Try to handle little cash, preferably the country's legal tender.
- Do not show valuables in public places.
- Keep yourself informed about the situation in the country and avoid marginal areas far from tourist centers.
- Take care of your luggage, avoid forgetting your belongings in the buses
- To leave the country take your documents in order
- Avoid exceeding the migratory time
Climate and best time to travel
Dry season: From November to April, ideal to enjoy beaches and outdoor activities.
Rainy season: May to October, good time for surfing and greener landscapes but with frequent rains.
If you travel for surfing, the best months are from March to October.
