FAQ – TICABUS S.A.
 

1. Where does Tica Bus travel?


Tica Bus has 14 daily departures to and from Panamá, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Tapachula,México.

2. How are the buses equipped? Is there a restroom aboard?


Yes, Tica Bus buses are equipped with air conditioning, an on-board rest room, reclining seats with headrests, TV and Video and curtains on the windows.

3. Do the buses make stops?


No, Tica Bus provides international service from capital to capital. On occasions buses make intermediate stops to pick up additional passengers en route to their destinations. The route Costa Rica - Panama, due to the duration of the trip makes 2 stops close to meal times.

4. Is there assigned seating on Tica Bus?


Yes, once you make your reservation, the terminal or agency will assign you a seat on the bus. This is done so that the passenger knows before hand where he/she will be seating.

5. Is smoking allowed on board


No, out of respect for nonsmokers and because the bus travels with the windows closed due to air conditioning, smoking on board is not allowed.

6. Tica Bus has both agencies and terminals, what´s the difference between the two?


Terminal is the starting point of a trip. It represents our name in a direct fashion, for it belongs to Tica Bus. Agency on the other hand, is a strategic alliance between Tica Bus and another entity, usually a travel agency or a hotel, that allows us to have a greater presence in the Central America market.

7. What is the expiration date on a Tica Bus ticket?


Tica Bus tickets are what we refer to as "open" tickets. This implies that there is no expiration date on the ticket. As long as a previous reservation is made you can use your ticket whenever you wish to.

8. How far in advance should I make the reservation of my ticket?


Reservations should be made with 3-4 days before hand during low season and with at least 1 month anticipation during high season. (December 3 months anticipation).

9. Can I reserve my ticket by phone?

If you already purchased the ticket, you can telephone any of our Terminals or Agencies to process a reservation.


10. How can I pay for my ticket?


Tickets can be paid for with US dollars or in each country´s currency. Checks and credit/debit cards are not accepted.

11. Can I transfer my ticket to a relative or a friend?


Yes, a ticket without a made reservation can be transferred if an authorization letter and copy of the ID is provided to the terminal or agency. Otherwise the ticket is nontransferable.

12. How much an I going to need per day for food?


When traveling, it is important to take into consideration that you will need an average of $20 per day for food expenses.

13. How much are customs expenses?


Customs expenses vary from border to border and depending on the nationality of the passenger. Usually an average of $ 5-$7 per border is needed.

14. Does the price of the ticket include hotel expenses?


No, hotel expenses are the passengers responsibility. This implies an additional expense that varies from $10-$12 per night. It is important to keep in mind that within the surroundings of our terminals you will find less and more expensive hotels, its up to the travelers choice.
15. Do I need a visa to travel?

It depends on the nationality of the passenger and the country you are going to visit. Since, the requirements for each country are different and are constantly changing, the best option is to get in touch with the corresponding consulate or embassy, they will be more than glad to inform the traveler what steps to follow.
16. Does Tica Bus run all the routes on schedule everyday?

Yes, Tica Bus runs all the routes every day according to the established schedule and itinerary. Easter Friday is the only day of the year that our service is not provided.

17. Are pets allowed on board?


No dogs, cats, birds, or other animals will be transported. However, a service animal, trained for the purpose of accompanying a disabled person, will be permitted to travel with the disabled person at no additional charge.

18. At what age do children need a ticket?


Starting at 3 years old your child will need a ticket. Before reaching the age of 2, the parent or guardian carry the child on his/her lap. In this case, if a seat is desired, then a ticket must be purchased.
